A/B Testing

This site also performs user behavior analysis through A/B testing functionality. Depaending on your profile, we may show you pages on our site with slightly different content. This functionality allows us to periodically analyze and optimize our services, making them more interesting for you as a user.

Cookies are stored on your computer for these analyses. The information collected in this manner is stored exclusively on a server within the EU. You can prevent cookie storage by adjusting the settings in your browser application.

Before performing the analyses, IP addresses are further processed in abbreviated form to ensure that any direct personal contact is excluded. The IP address transmitted by your browser is not combined with other data we collect.

Data may be accessed by our analysis service providers, based in the EU.

Facebook Services, Custom Audiences, and Facebook Marketing

Within our online service offerings, based on our legitimate interests in analyzing, optimizing, and monetizing our online offerings, we use the so-called “Facebook pixel” from the social network Facebook, provided by Facebook Inc., 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or, if you are an EU resident, Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”).

Facebook is certified under the Privacy Shield framework, thus providing the guarantee that it adheres to European data protection legislation. (Privacy Shield).

Facebook uses the “Facebook pixel” primarily to target users of our online offerings for displaying ads (so-called “Facebook ads”).

Accordingly, we use the Facebook pixel to display those Facebook ads we use only to screens of users who have shown interest in our online offering or who exhibit certain characteristics (e.g., interest in specific topics or products, determined based on visited websites), which we transmit to Facebook (so-called “Custom audiences”).

With the help of the Facebook pixel, we also aim to ensure that our Facebook ads correspond to the potential interest of the user and do not have a disruptive effect on them. By using the Facebook pixel, we can additionally analyze the effectiveness of Facebook advertising in statistical and market research purposes, observing when, after clicking on a Facebook ad, users are redirected to our website (so-called “Conversion”). Facebook pixel can be directly integrated by Facebook when displaying our website pages, and it may save a cookie on your device, which is a small file.

If you later log in to Facebook or visit Facebook while authenticated, the visit to our online service page is recorded in your profile. The data collected about you is anonymous to us; it does not provide us with any clue about the user’s identity.

However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook, making it possible to link it to the user’s profile, which Facebook can use for its own advertising and market research purposes. If we transmit data to Facebook for comparison purposes, these are encrypted locally in the browser and then transmitted to Facebook through a secure https connection.

All of this is only intended to compare with data encrypted in the same way by Facebook. Also, based on our legitimate interests, we use the “Custom audiences from File” procedure of Facebook Inc. In this case, email addresses of newsletter recipients are uploaded to Facebook’s server.

The upload process is encrypted. The upload serves only to determine the recipients of our newsletters. By doing so, we aim to ensure that the ads are shown only to users interested in our information and services. Data processing by Facebook is carried out according to Facebook’s data usage rules.

General information about the display of Facebook ads, from Facebook’s data usage rules: Facebook Privacy Policy.

Special information and details about the Facebook pixel and its operation can be found in the Facebook Help section: Facebook Business Help.

You can object to the collection of your data by the Facebook pixel and its use for displaying Facebook ads. To determine which types of advertising should be shown to you on Facebook, you can visit the page created by Facebook for this purpose, where you can follow instructions on ad settings based on user interests: Facebook Ad Preferences.

Settings are applied independently of the platform used, meaning they will be valid regardless of the device you use, whether it is a desktop computer or a mobile device. You can also object to the use of cookies for measuring efficiency and advertising purposes by visiting the opt-out page for network advertising initiatives (Network Advertising Initiative Opt-Out) and on the American (About Ads Choices) or European (Your Online Choices) sites.

You can also disable the collection of Facebook pixel data using our cookie application, by clicking on the icon on the left or right side of the screen, marked with the letter C. Select to disable marketing cookies

Extension modules (plug-ins) for social networks

Social plug-ins (hereinafter referred to as “plug-ins”) from social networks are used on our sites, especially the “Share” button. Plug-ins are usually marked with the logo of each provider.

Data will be transmitted to social networks only if you deliberately click on the button of the respective social network. In this case, the web browser establishes a connection with the server of the respective social network. By deliberately clicking on the button (e.g., “Share”, “Pin”), you agree that your browser will establish a connection with the servers of the respective social network and transmit data about how you use our site to that social network operator and vice versa. We have no influence over the nature and extent to which data is collected by social networks.

Social network providers store your data in the form of user profiles and use it for advertising purposes, market research, and/or to design their own sites. This evaluation process occurs especially (including for unauthenticated users) for the representation of targeted advertising based on demand and for informing other users of the social network about your activities on our site. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles, for which you need to contact the respective plug-in providers. Through plug-ins, we offer you the opportunity to interact with social networks and other users, allowing us to optimize our offerings and make our site more interesting for you as a user.

Data is transferred regardless of whether you have an account with the social plug-in providers and are logged into that account. If you are logged into the plug-in provider’s account, the data collected by us will be directly allocated to your existing account with the plug-in provider. If you activate the button and, for example, connect to the page, the plug-in provider will also store this information in your user account and share it publicly with your contacts. We recommend that you log out periodically after using a social network, especially before activating the button, as this can help prevent synchronization with the profile you have with the plug-in provider.

For more information on the purpose and scope of data collection, processing, and further use of the data by the plug-in provider, please consult the data protection statements of each provider at the URLs below. You will find more information about the rights you have in this regard and about setting options to protect your personal data privacy.

Facebook Custom Audiences („Facebook Pixel”)

This site uses the “Custom Audiences” remarketing feature of Facebook Inc. (“Facebook”) to reach out to you again within the next 12 months. This allows users of the website to see ads based on their stated interests (“Facebook ads”) when they visit the social network Facebook or other websites that also use this tool.

Your browser automatically establishes a direct connection with Facebook’s server. We have no influence over the extent and subsequent use of the data collected by Facebook through the use of this tool, and therefore, we inform you based on our level of knowledge: by including the “Custom Audiences” feature of Facebook, Facebook receives information that you have accessed the relevant site of our online presence or clicked on one of our ads. If you are registered with a Facebook service, Facebook can associate your visit with your account. Even if you are not registered with Facebook or logged into your account, it is possible that providers may obtain and retain your IP address as well as other identifying information.

The “Facebook Custom Audiences” feature can be disabled in the cookie settings here, and for authenticated users, at https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads#_.

YouTube-Video

We have integrated YouTube videos on our website, which are stored on https://www.YouTube.com and can be played directly from our site. These videos are included in “enhanced privacy mode,” meaning that no personal information will be transmitted to YouTube unless you play the videos to start them. Only when you play the videos will the data mentioned in the following paragraph be transferred to YouTube. We have no control over this data transfer.

By visiting the site, YouTube receives the information that you have accessed the corresponding subpage of our website. Additionally, the data mentioned in Section 2 of this Privacy Policy will be transmitted. This occurs regardless of whether YouTube provides a user account through which you can log in or whether there is no user account. If you are logged into Google, your information will be directly associated with your account. If you do not want to be associated with your profile on the YouTube application, you must log out of that application before activating the button. YouTube stores your data as user profiles and uses it for advertising, market research, and/or structuring its website according to demand. This evaluation process occurs particularly (including for users who are not logged in) to provide demand-based advertising and to inform other social network users about your activities on our site. You have the option to object to the creation of these user profiles, for which you must contact YouTube.

For more information on the purpose and scope of data collection, processing, and further use by YouTube, please refer to their privacy policy. You will find more information regarding your rights and settings options to protect your personal data:

Google Ads (formerly Google Adwords)

GOOGLE ADS CONVERSION

We use Google Ads services to draw attention to our promotional offers through advertisements (so-called Google Ads) on external websites. This allows us to measure the success of specific advertising campaigns. We are interested in showing you ads that are relevant to you, making our website more appealing to you, and ensuring that we accurately calculate advertising costs.

The advertisements are delivered by Google through what is known as “Ad Servers.” For this purpose, we use ad server cookies that measure certain success parameters, such as ad displays or clicks by users. If you access our website via a Google advertisement, the Google Ads application stores a cookie on your device. These cookies generally expire after 30 days and are not intended to personally identify you. The cookie typically stores the unique cookie ID, the number of ad impressions per placement (frequency), the last impression (relevant for post-view conversions), and opt-out information (indicating that the user does not want to be contacted again).

These cookies allow Google to recognize your internet browser. If a user visits certain pages on a Google Ads client’s website and the cookies stored on their device have not expired, Google and the client can recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to that page. Each Google Ads client is assigned a different cookie. Therefore, cookies cannot be tracked across the websites of Google Ads clients. We do not collect or process personal data through the advertising methods mentioned above. We only receive statistical analyses from Google. Based on these analyses, we can identify which advertising methods are more effective. We do not receive any further data from the use of advertising materials; in particular, we cannot identify users based on this information.

By using the marketing tools described, your browser automatically initiates a direct connection to a Google server. We have no control over the extent or further use of the data collected by Google through this tool and therefore inform you to the best of our knowledge: by integrating Google Ads conversion tracking, Google receives information that you have accessed a particular part of our online presence or clicked on one of our ads. If you are registered with a Google service, Google can associate your visit with your account. Even if you are not registered with Google or logged into your account, it is possible that the providers can obtain and store your IP address.

Google Ads Retargeting

We use the retargeting feature within the Google Ads service. This functionality allows us to display interest-based ads to our platform users on other platforms (websites) within the Google network (such as the Google search engine or YouTube platform, known as ‘Google Ads’, or on other websites). To achieve this, we analyze user interactions with our platform (e.g., which offers the user was interested in) to display targeted ads to users who have visited our platform on other websites. Google stores a number in the browsers of users who access certain Google services or websites within the Google Display Network. This number, also known as a ‘cookie’, is used to record visits from these users. This number is used to identify a browser on a specific device and not to identify a person; personal data is not stored.

You can prevent participation in this tracking process in several ways:

a) By configuring your browser settings accordingly, especially by disabling third-party cookies, you will not receive any ads from third-party providers;

b) By disabling conversion tracking cookies by setting your browser to block cookies from the domain www.googleadservices.com, https://www.google.de/settings/ads, which will be erased when you clear cookies;

c) By disabling interest-based ads from providers who are part of the self-regulation campaign “About Ads” using the link http://www.aboutads.info/choices, which will be erased when you clear cookies;

d) By permanently disabling ads in Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Google Chrome using the link http://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin;

e) By configuring your cookie preferences accordingly. In this case, you may not be able to use all functions of this offer to their full extent.

For more information on the purpose and scope of data collection, processing, and further use by Google, please refer to Google’s privacy policy. You can find more information about your rights and setting options for protecting your personal data here:

https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy; Google complies with the EU-US Privacy Shield https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework. Alternatively, you can find additional information related to the website within the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) at http://www.networkadvertising.org.

GOOGLE REMARKETING

Moreover, we use the Google Remarketing application to re-engage with you over the next 18 months. This application allows our ads to continue appearing as you browse the internet after visiting our site. This is done through cookies stored in your browser, which are used by Google to record and evaluate your browsing behavior across various websites. This way, Google can recognize your previous visits to our site. According to Google’s statements, Google does not combine the data collected for remarketing purposes with your personal data that Google may hold. According to Google, pseudonymization is used for remarketing.

You can prevent participation in this tracking process in several ways:

a) By adjusting your browser settings accordingly, especially by disabling third-party cookies, you will not receive ads from third-party providers;

b) By disabling conversion tracking cookies by setting your browser to block cookies from the domain www.googleadservices.com, https://www.google.de/settings/ads, a setting that will be erased when you clear cookies;

c) By disabling interest-based ads from providers who are part of the self-regulation campaign “About Ads” using the link http://www.aboutads.info/choices, a setting that will be erased when you clear cookies;

d) By permanently disabling ads in Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Google Chrome using the link http://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin;

e) By adjusting your cookie preferences accordingly. In this case, you may not be able to use all the features of this offer to their full extent.

For more information about the purpose and scope of data collection and processing by Google, please refer to the privacy policy. There you will also find more information about your rights and setting options to protect your privacy: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy; Google complies with the EU-US Privacy Shield, https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework. Alternatively, you can find more information on the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) website at http://www.networkadvertising.org.

CAMPAIGN MANAGER

This website also uses the Google Campaign Manager online marketing tool. Campaign Manager uses cookies to display relevant ads to users, improve campaign performance reports, or prevent users from seeing the same ad multiple times. Google uses a cookie ID to track which ads have been shown in the search engine and to prevent those ads from being displayed repeatedly. Additionally, Campaign Manager may use cookie IDs to collect information about conversions based on ad requirements. For example, when a user views a Campaign Manager ad for a product or service and then visits the website using the same browser and purchases that product or service.

According to Google, Campaign Manager cookies do not contain personal information.

Your browser automatically establishes a direct connection to the Google server when you visit our website. We have no control over the extent or further use of data collected by Google through the use of this tool. Therefore, we inform you according to our knowledge: By integrating Campaign Manager, Google receives information that you have accessed the corresponding part of our online presence or clicked on an ad. If you are registered with a Google service, Google may associate your visit with your Google account. Even if you are not registered or logged in, it is possible that providers may obtain and store your IP address.

In addition, Campaign Manager cookies (DoubleClick Floodlight) allow us to understand if you take certain actions on our website after viewing one of our display/video ads on Google or other platforms through Campaign Manager or if you accessed one of these (conversion tracking). Campaign Manager uses cookies to understand which content you interacted with on the website to deliver targeted ads.
